What are the blinking red lights on Route 44 in the panhandle of Texas that can be seen for miles and miles? ?
Q. I was driving through the panhandle on Route 44 last week and noticed a group of at least fifty blinking red lights just off the highway that could be seen for at least half an hour while driving at night and was wondering what they were (besides alien spacecraft, of course).

A. they are probably radio towers. those are especially common along highways. at night all you can see is their blinking lights so they can appear to be UFO's. most of them have alternating sections of red and white steel.
