From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A newspaper is a regularly scheduled publication containing news, information, and advertising. By 2007 there were 6580 daily newspapers in the world (including 1456 in the U.S.) selling 395 million copies a day (55 million in the U.S). The worldwide recession of 2008, combined with the rapid growth of web-based alternatives, caused a serious decline in advertising and circulation, as many papers closed or sharply retrenched operations. General-interest newspapers typically publish stories on local and national political events and personalities, crime, business, entertainment, society and sports. Most traditional papers also feature an editorial page containing editorials written by an editor and columns that express the personal opinions of writers. Other features include display and classified advertising, comics, and inserts from local merchants. The newspaper is typically funded by paid subscriptions and advertising. A wide variety of material has been published in newspapers, including editorial opinions, criticism, persuasion and op-eds; obituaries; entertainment features such as crosswords, sudoku and horoscopes; weather news and forecasts; advice, food and other columns; reviews of movies, plays and restaurants; classified ads; display ads, editorial cartoons and comic strips. GNU Free Documentation License How to clean yellow plastic formed newspaper boxes? Q. I work for a newspaper and have been put in charge of refurbishing a number of yellow plastic newspaper boxes. I have just pressure washed them and while that took off a lot of the "surface" dirt, there is still a lot of dirt that seems to be weathered into the plastic. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I may be able to clean these up? Someone told me acetone but not sure how well that would work. Thanks in advance! Asked by Christopher L - Sun Mar 16 23:43:41 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Acetone will melt the plastic. Try a product called Dirtex, by Savogran. Works on all plastics, espescially well on discolored computer cases and copiers. I used to work for an office product company(SHARP) and thats what we used on our old equipment. Tell me what you know it is and why A. There is a greater level of understanding of the school newspaper's audience, given the student's position at the school. The tone is slightly more familiar though still professional. The town newspaper's audience would require a slightly more distanced tone, given the differences between youth and adult audiences. B. The audiences are exactly the same; there are just fewer adults in the school newspaper's audience. C. There is very little difference between writing for a school newspaper and a town newspaper, given that both publications are newspapers. D. None of the above are correct. Q. My friend in Mexico wants to get her Chinese mother a good, well-rounded, general newspaper to read from China. My friend is having a hard time, though, because most on-line information is obviously in Chinese, which my friend does not read. The newspaper must be a print edition because the mother's eyes unfortunately hurt too much when reading the computer. Thank you so much. Asked by Darin F - Mon Jan 28 17:54:23 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. If your friend can obtain the help of a Chinese speaking individual, then that person can explain what the site is saying, and they may be able to order the subscription that way.
